With the emergence of garlands as one of the key trend pieces in the last few years, we’ve seen flag bunting, tassels and gorgeous banners in endless varieties. These simple additions add such a simple festive flair to any occasion, and their delicacy implies intricacy and evokes a handmade feeling. This simple scalloped garland tutorial is practically foolproof and can be created in a multitude of different colors, textures and sizes. Sparkles add movement and excitement, and catch the light to create a dazzling decoration.
- Large circle punch (check your local craft supply store or search online for 2″ and above.)
- Fun paper
- String or baker’s twine
- Glue Stick
- Punch a large pile of circles. It’s much faster to glue them all after they’ve been punched and the project will move more quickly.
- Attach the circles one at a time, centering them on the string, gluing half and folding it over the string and back onto itself to form a half circle.
- Repeat this step, placing the next circle right next to the last to get the scalloped effect. You can also play with spacing and use a variety of circle sizes to get different effects.
